A big thank you to Lee Reynolds, from Leicestershire, who set off on a sponsored swim around lake Llyn Dinas near Ffestiniog in North Wales. Accompanied by her friend Mandi in a kayak for safety Lee took just over 2 hours to swim the 4km course.

The team then moved to the neighbouring lake Llyn Gwynant to complete another 2km in less than 2 hours.

Lee said, “The swim was glorious; I’d comfortably hit my stride and was swimming an easy crawl letting my mind wander – in fact I’ve planned my 40th birthday celebrations for next year in fine detail (a few swims are involved).  The sun never stopped shining and Wales never looked better, the mountains dominating the skyline.  Although the water was cold it wasn’t unpleasant and I was able to watch small fish darting around beneath me”.

Everyone at the Swimming Trust thanks you for your support.

Legacies
  • The late Joyce Cooper

  • The late Wyatt Crabb - family and friends kindly made a legacy donation in memory of the late Wyatt Crabb.  Wyatt had been involved in swimming in the South West for many years.  The donation will support open water swimmers and anyone wishing to contribute to the fund, can do so through online donation www.help.co.uk/fundraisers/wyattcrabb   The fund will grow and support our up and coming open water athletes.
  •  The late Betty Christine Staker - Family and friends of the late Betty Staker have remembered her life by making a donation to the Swimming Trust.

Betty began teaching swimming to local school children in the 1950’s at the local open-air pool in Sawbridge, Hertfordshire. Over the years many hundreds of children in Essex and Hertfordshire have benefited from her knowledge, experience and efforts in raising money for our sport. In the 1980’s she founded Dolphins Handicapped Swimming Club.

Betty, although persuaded by her family to stop diving in her early 80’s, continued to swim until she was 89.
  • The late Eddie Blight  - Warwickshire Amateur Swimming Association's kind donation will support a Memorial Fund in memory of the late Eddie Blight,  The fund will benefit individuals within the West Midlands swimming community who are seeking support for training in the capacity of officials and coaches.  An online donation page is available for anyone who would like to contribute to this cause  www.help.co.uk/fundraisers/eddieblight
